Through a two yearsof construction, another pathway crossing Yangtze River in Jingzhou,Shashi-Gong’an Highway, has entered the final construction stage. Supportingengineering, house-building project, and traffic engineering facilities will becompleted at the end of December, and predicted to be open at the end of theyear.

Reporter sawat the construction site of the first-biding section on Shashi-Gong’an Highwaythat, technicians were measuring the reflection coefficient of marked line. Itis said that, in accordance with the national standards, the reflectioncoefficient of marked line should be no less than 150 and in order to guaranteethe construction quality, site technicians will strictly control the pavingthickness, speed, width, and reflection coefficient.

With a fulllength of 30 km, the first-bidding section of Shashi-Gong’an Highway hasentered into the construction of traffic engineering facility marked line sinceJune of this year. At present, 80% of the fence project, 90% of the markingproject and 96% of separation fence has been finished. According to the progress of current construction, all traffic engineering facilities shall becompleted by the end of December.

Starting fromGuanyindang Town and connecting with Shanghai-Chongqing Highway, Shashi-Gong’anHighway crosses Cenhe, Zishi, and Haoxuexi, spans over Yangzte River viaJingzhou Yangtze River Bridge, and ends at Yangjiachang Town in Gong’an County.The 36.049-km long highway with a two-way, four-lane motorway can reach thedesign speed of 100 km per hour. There are four interactive flyovers along thishighway, located in Guangyindang, Cenhe, Jianglingxi, and Gong’annanrespectively, as well as one service station and three toll stations.Jianglingxi Toll Station is located in Jinggan Village, Xionghe Town, JianglingCounty with an individual building for offices, dormitory, and toll stationceiling. The main building has already completed and now been in the stage ofdecoration. It is planned to be completed by the end of December.

Located at thehinterland of Jianghan Plain, Shashi-Gong’an Highway crosses wide fields.During the period of construction, the owner stregnthens the project qualitycontrol, and highlights the protection of ecological environment to adopt acomprehensive protection method of combining engineering protection andbiological protection so as to set up a featured green landscape and makeefforts to build itself as into the “most beautiful highway in Jianghan Plain”.

Oncecompleted, Shashi-Gong’an Highway will become another new pathway crossingYangtze River in Jingzhou, which helps relieve the traffic pressure of JingzhouYangtze River and Jingzhou urban area, comprehensively use the rare resource ofYangtze River, improve the highway traffic network in Jianghan Plain andDongting Lake Plain, and advance the emergency transfer capacity of Jingjiang’sflood diversion and storage area. After Shashi-Gong’an Highway is opened, theconnection between Jiangling, Gong’an and the downtown area of Jingzhou willbecome closer, which will provide important traffic support to build Jingzhou intoa metropolis.
